Policies and Resources

Classes at Ludlow Junior School

Each class teacher is responsible for providing a well balanced broadly based curriculum. As there is usually more than one class in each year group class teachers plan together to ensure that all children within that year group receive the same opportunities.

All children are taught English, Maths and Science and the foundation subjects of History, Geography, I.T. Technology, Art, Physical Education, Music, Religious Education and Health Education. In our school children are also taught French.

We think about children’s intellectual, spiritual, social and emotional differences.  Work is thoughtfully matched to their varying levels of ability.   We do not just want children to learn things now but encourage them to want to learn throughout their lives.

Children’s achievements are celebrated and everyone enjoys success and praise, regularly, during their time in school.  We encourage children to become independent and confident in both their work and the way they relate to each other and the world.  Children make progress at their own rates and in different ways.  We value them as individuals and provide learning opportunities that build on their strengths and overcome their weaknesses.

Over the last few years we have worked hard to improve the school environment, both within the school building and outside in the extensive grounds the school is situated in.  We feel it is very important that children have an attractive and stimulating environment to work in and that this encourages learning.

Non Uniform Day Friday 16th February

Next Friday 16th February we are going to have a non-uniform day. It is traditional for children to bring a donation for the privilege of not wearing uniform. The donations will be for a pupil who has recently undergone surgery to cure his epilepsy, to give to either the Epilepsy Charity, Ronald McDonald House or the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. We would suggest that the children wear something red as he is a keen Arsenal fan.
