Reading is an absolutely essential part of a child’s education and development, proven to help progress right across the curriculum. We are very lucky in that we have a spacious and welcoming library with a great selection of books.
As well as opening every lunchtime, the library is available after school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and it is possible for pupils’ younger siblings to register and then to borrow books as well- we have a fantastic range of picture books for pre-school readers.
Each lunchtime there are capable and enthusiastic pupils from year 5 and 6 who, as librarians help keep things running smoothly and offer invaluable assistance to the other year groups, both listening to them read and encouraging them to broaden their range of choices.
Some comments from our librarians:
“Being a librarian and getting to know people has helped me to join in. It’s amazing!”
