SATs stuff!

Details of the dates of the  national SATS (Statutory Assessment Tasks and Tests) for 2017 are given below.  We will be holding a parent/carer workshop to discuss some of your questions and how you can support your child closer to the tests.

Attendance during SATS week:

All children need to be present in school during SATS week.  The tests are compulsory and have to be undertaken by everyone on the same day.  If you feel that your child is really unwell and cannot attend, please telephone the school immediately.

Here are some great websites that your child can use to help them prepare for SATs.

BBC Bitesize (English, Maths)

Woodland Junior School website has lots of links, past papers and games to try out.

Year 6 SATS revision site (again, another school site but lots of links to the CGP books)

SATS papers:

You can download (for free) copies of all the past Year 6 SATS papers from this website.

MATHS: Mental Maths Practise

This website is excellent! You choose the area that you want to work on and set the amount of time you have to answer the question. You then answer ten questions (you will need a pen and paper to write down your answers and at that end, you click to reveal the answers.  This is a great activity to do with a parent/carer, friend or older brother or sister.

If you click on this link: TOPMARKS - you will also find lots of other activities to practise your mental skills.  If you do some every day, you will notice that your mental skills speed up.  It's not too late to get practising.

MATHS: Fractions revision

Fractions can sometimes be confusing - particularly when you are trying to convert fractions to decimals or percentages.  Try these games to help develop your understanding - and have fund at the same time!

This sandcastle game will help develop your understanding of fractions and what  the numerator and denominator in a fraction tell you.

We are also looking at fractions and how they relate to percentages and decimals.

Try this Mission to help convert fractions to decimals.

Use decimals to solve a "crime" in this game.

This treefrog game has lots of different levels to unlock and helps with positioning decimals and percentages. Good fun!

TOPMARKS link to lots of games including those above.  Also Woodlands Junior School have lots of different SATS activities.
